No Name Band hosts Jamboree Friday The No Name Band will be hosting its third Old Time Country Jamboree and Dance at the Georgetown Legion on Friday, June 16. The first one held in April was very successful, with lots of people performing, dancing and having fun. If Friday's Jamboree is as successful, this could be a regular third Friday of each month event. The performers (known as Jammers) ranged in age from 13 to over 75 years; a total of 20 different Jammers got up and did two numbers each, as well as the members of the backup band (the No Name Band). If you have never been to a Jamboree you should come out; some sing, some play a variety of instruments including guitars, banjo, fiddles and piano. The atmosphere is very friendly and everyone helps each other. If you have always wanted to get your guitar and sing or just sing a few tunes, this is the place to do it. The back up band is very good and is helpful at assisting performers do their numbers. A good thing about a jam is if you don't want any backup or only want part of the band all you have to do is say so, or you can use your own accompanist and you are more than welcome to use the band's equipment, (electric piano, bass and or drums). You can have any other people you want to perform with you, other Jammers or friends. The Jamboree begins at 8 p.m. and continues to midnight at the legion, located at 127 Mill St., Georgetown. Admission is $5 but Jammers get in free. Tickets at the door. For more information call Jim Dunham, 905873-0310.
