Golf Christ the King's Ryan Thomson was the lone local-area qualifier for next week's OFSAA Golf Festival in Ingersoll after placing third individually at the Golden Horseshoe championships last Thursday at Peninsula Lakes near Niagara Falls. Thomson shot a round of 75 to earn a spot in the provincials along with the team from Burlington's Notre Dame. Brian Cvetkovic of Burlington Central edged out Georgetown's Luke Ovenden in a playoff for the final OFSAA berth after both finished regulation play at 76. Ovenden shot the low round of the day with a 73 last week at Oakville's Glen Abbey in the final event of the Halton series which determined the GHAC field.
