Book, toy sale to benefit scholarships With cottage season fast approaching, you may be looking to stock up on some new books and board games. You can find all those best sellers you've been waiting for or some fresh games to pass the time and support local students at the same time. For 35 years the Canadian Federation of University Women-- Georgetown has been conducting the CFUW Georgetown member Lisette Logan was busy sorting through books in the basement of Young's Pharmacy recently in preparation of the upcoming 35th annual used book, toy and CD sale, which is in aid of the group's scholarship programs. This year the event will be held April 22 at St. George's Anglican Church, 60 Guelph Street in Georgetown, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The collection of books, toys, CDs and videos has already begun. Businesses have donated space for collection boxes which can be found through the community. Locations include Georgetown Library, Young's Pharmacy, Johnson Real Estate (located in the mall) and Shoppers Drug Mart in both Acton and Georgetown South. Proceeds from the sale go to scholarships for high school students in Halton Hills who are pursuing college or university education as well as mature students working towards a high school diploma. This year the club has been awarded $8,000 in scholarships and bursaries from proceeds from the sale.
