Legion news 2006 JUDY OERLEMANS Georgetown Legion news We are having our Legion elections on April 23. Come out and vote. Nominations start April 13 at our general meeting. Come out and nominate your favorite people . Do not forget your favorite breakfast-- that is our Hungry Man's Breakfast tomorow (Saturday), 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Everyone welcome. On Saturday, April 29 there is going to be a spring dance in the branch with DJ Anthony Hulme. Everyone welcome. Get your tickets at the bar. Colleen Connolly, a Grade 8 student at St Francis of Assissi School has won first place in the Intermediate Poems of 2005-2006 and will be entered into Dominion Command .We wish her luck. Easter is coming, see what we do at the legion, you will be surprised. On Sunday March 26 we held the Alfie Oats Dart competition. Keith Warling and Hugh Linton won the Doubles and Hugh Linton, Keith Warling, Pius Hogan, Rob Labinowicz won first in teams with Adam McIlroy, Paul Frey, Bob Hutchison and Ray (from Bronte) in second place. Coming up third was Georgetown's Dennis Thorogood, Ron Scarlett, Eric Fuller, and Terry Hancock. Congratulations to all players. The 50/50 winners were Wayne Sheppard and Emme Labinowicz. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 120 Youth Education Chair Marjorie Tutty (centre) honoured the accomplishments of local students Colleen Connolly of St. Francis of Assisi School, (left) and Sam Gilgallan of Georgetown District High School on their accomplishments in the Legion poetry and poster competition at the District B level. Connolly received a first place in the intermediate poetry category, while Gilgallan won a third in the intermediate coloured poster division. Other local students Lorraine Pyk and Rachael Sherk of Pineview Public School and Vanessa Develter of Silver Creek Public School also won recognition at District B level. Photo by Ted Brown
