Leathertown Pets outscored 3-1 Acton's Leathertown Under-12 All-Star soccer side found out the true meaning of "ooze ball" when they met their Woolwich rivals on Tuesday here in Acton and fell 3-1 to the visitors. There was a steady rain falling when the teams took the field and the game became one of chance and luck more than skill. As the rain increased, the players, the ball, the spectators, the coaches and the field all became waterlogged. Chris Adema played an excellent game in net for Leathertown but even so, the slippery conditions allowed Woolwich to score three times. Devon Frazer scored Acton's lone marker. Unfortunately, the game was called off before the end of the second half due to ever-worsen- ing weather conditions. This was a great disappointment to the Leathertown team as this was the last game of the season, Leathertown went on to the end-of-season tournament on Aug. 22 in Elmira but results had not been submitted at press time. Al & Al's win Playing with a full team again, Al & Al Meats dominated the field and left few chances for the ball to travel into their half in a 5-1 win over Rockwood in Peewee soccer action Wednesday. A great game was played by all players, especially goal scorers Paul Guy (with two) Bobby Bard, Derrick Mclntyre and Scott Mclntyrc with one, and halfbacks Jeff Adema and Jamie Birrell. Tuitman 's U-16s take Brampton I Tuitman's Under-16 Girls soccer squad found themselves short of players at thestartoftheirgamein Brampton Thursday, but still managed to gain a 3-1 victory. Brampton managed to hold the game scoreless during the first half but Tuitman's came back stronger with a full complement of players in the second half and Eileen Campbell soon found the back of the Brampton net. Mia Trembly followed suit with a perfect shot on the rebound of her first try to get past the Brampton * goalie. Brampton managed to come back with one of their own but, with the light almost gone and the spectators unable ,to distinguish the players through the gloom, Eileen Campbell secured the victory with another goal. Goalie Tammy Allan was once again the sportswoman of the game; she did a tremendous job by holding Brampton to a single goal.
