BY FRANCES NIBLOCK Acton's Community Consultation Committee hopes to revive Neighbourhood Watch. Chair Bill Taylor said public awareness will be job one. "The committee will decide issues to focus on. I would like the police-in-action program expanded. It helped us sohve Hallowe'en vandalism problems downtown last year and this Hallowe'en will be a priority." CCCs promote communication between police and community and make suggestions for preventive policing. "We want to publicize available law enforcement programs so everyone is aware of police concerns a nd issues," noted Taylor. Makin'It Work Fort Acton CCC co-ordinator, Sgt. Al McWhirter adds: "We are calling people who were involved with the Acton Watch program a couple of years ago. But this is a community program and police don't sustain it; the public has to buy in. Currently there are no Neighbourhood Watch programs in Acton. The CCC meeting is set for September 22.
