(Jamie Harrison photo) Special teams let Raiders down BY TERRY ROUSE The Georgetown Gemini Special teams played an im- portant role in Saturday's Georgetown Raiders hockey gameas the visiting Bramalea Blues managed three power play markers and a short- handed goal, in a 7-2 Geor- getown loss. "Bramalea had alittle more savvy around the net," said head coach and GM Rick Bince. Bill Rennie and Krystopher Barch were able to finish off their chances, scoring the lone goals for the Raiders. "We are a young team right now and young players make mistakes," added Bince. "It is a matter of growth," said Bince. "Teams that don't have patience are like a revolving door, they won't get anywhere." Building credibility is in the first interest of the club. "This is a plan where players will come and learn to be quality peopleas wellas good hockey players. "Some of the players we have selected have not been taught the fundamentals. " One player Bince, has high hopes for is 16-year-old Andrew Peters. "When he matures, he could go to the NHL, remember he's only 162 As for the second half of the season, Bince just wants to improve with what he has. "J don't want to flush the season down the toilet. We just have to continue to work at the team concept." As for the next commu- nity fund-raiser there will be casino nights on Nov. 29 and 30 at the McGibbon Hotel. Novice Raiders Keep Rolling The Georgetown Minor Novice Raiders continued their win- ning ways with a 3-2 road win in Norwich. Chris Darling opened the scoring for the Raiders in the first period ona setup from Greg Heywood and Cory McLaughlin. The Raiders record now stands at 10-4-3 for the season.
