bowes is taking another crack at the ward 5 council lors job if elected it would be his third term of office mr bowes is already look ing ahead to projects hell pursue if he wins during next novembers municipal elec tion one of his priorities is getting and keeping the towns roads in good shape we are hoping to get three more streets repaired this year mr bowes said ward 5 stretches from the train tracks in stouffville east to the town line and from main street north to just north of bloomington road hes already started pur suing federal government infrastructure grants and wants to continue this after the election the grants would cover a significant part of the cost of road and sewer work he noted also high on his list is finding a suitable location for an arts and cultural perform- harry bowes veteran poli- tiician gets great satisfaction from a job well done ing arts centre preferably in the downtown core of stouf fville he has a location in mind as well as plans for funding and operating the centre this project should take place post haste mr bowes said mr bowes continues to meet with residents about a variety of issues residents in the cam fella subdivision at the east end of stouffville are looking for a new sewer sys tem while others have con cerns about two new devel opments in ward 5 hill- mount properties which is building homes on tenth line north of geoffrey and aspen crescents and the new north- gate seniors bungalow devel opment on lands near the stouffville country market traffic resulting from growth in ward 5 will become more of a problem in future mr bowes noted always wellarmed with research about an issue hes tackling mr bowes finds great satisfaction in seeing a job well done a school trustee for 23 years mr bowes now is on three school councils sum- mitview public school and orchard park public school as well as stouffville district secondary school before that he was a pharmacist and business owner in down town stouffville with the cost of hydro and gas constantly going up taxes are always a big issue he is hoping council does as much as possible without too heavy an impact on munici pal taxes his philosophy for the upcoming as a work in progress her ward extends west from the train tracks in stouffville to hwy 48 and from main street to just north of bloomington road many of the planning initiatives that have been started in this term wont be finished before the next election mrs hilton explained i want to remain involved in the many plan ning initiatives preparing the foundations for the future of whitchurch-stouf- fville she said she will contin ue to work with townspeo ple to develop a framework for the town that will sustain stouffvilles unique small town character and quality oflife many of her constituents have told her they want to see more programs for susanne hilton councillor wants to make sure moraine remains protected seniors and youth with a growing population of all age groups leisure activities will become increasingly important in the future her involvement with the downtown thinktank held in the fall which involved the major stake holders in town showd her support of the
