allowing the clippers for wards to roam freely in the oshawa zone there s plenty of spirit down on farm udderly fantastic is the way wally crowder describes things down on the farm these days with wallys spirit of stouffville out of playoff contention as their second season winds down the teams junior c affiliate georgina ice are causing all kinds of noise especial ly in neighboring uxbridge it seems the ice are the only team that can give the central ontario junior c hockey league leading bruins a game this season the ice though caught in a battle for the fourth and final playoff position have defeated the bruins four times in seven tries one game has ended in a draw with the bruins winning twice once in overtime the uxbridge team has only lost six games in total making the ices feat that much more remarkable while stouffvilles minor hockey grads used to head off to play for the bruins in years past its the georgina squad which has the distinctively stouffville taste these days starting with head coach paul sin clair and his assistant jason underwood the ice have eight stouffville resi dents- in tow six of them players and all are con tributing says wally whose son adam is on the team which is a good thing in that sinclair and the ice took some heat sport notes bruaest when they started the sea son stocked with stouffvil- lites thank goodness the stouffville kids have come through or they might have hung sine up there laughed crowder who could use a good guffaw or two this season the most recent upset of the bruins came last tues day when the ice prevailed 43 in uxbridge it was evan boyd a household name for long time stouf fville rep hockey followers who stood on his head in the georgina net to lead his team to a come-from- behind win no one was happier than evans father and stouf fville midget rep hockey coach dave boyd when the ice pulled this one out after one ice goal dave got so excited he turned and gave me a solid chuck on my left shoulder the one thats recovering so well from being dislocated some two months back my phys iotherapy must be paying off because i survived the big guys blow meanwhile wally crow der is entertaining an out side hope that he could be watching son adam and graham face off against each other for the ontario junior c title graham who skated with the spirit last winter is with the norwich mer chants of the southwestern junior c league this year like the ice the mer chants arent in contention for first place but theyve had their moments wally suggests that would make it a very interesting season after all if they were to go on to play each other in the ontario finals said wally in the mean time mark down feb 7 on your calen dars thats when the ice and their stouffville con tent return to the uxbridge arena for what could be a crucial game in deciding whether or not the georgina squad makes the playoffs the ice will have extra incentive for the match in that if they do manage to finish fourth theyll draw the bruins for the first round of the cen tral league playoffs the bruins swept the ice in last years opening round series which will give the ice an even greater impetus this time around as for the fans it would make for the next best thing to an actual uxbridgestouffville square off leaving the uxbridge arena packed for games played there stars late gamble pays off the
