stouffville the man who ini tially set the wheels in motion has lost his zeal ed hakonson who along with local businessmen don ander son and doug todd made appli cation to the ontario hockey association oha for a team almost a year ago told the tri bune this week his enthusiasm has waned he cited opposition from nearby towns lack of local sup port and the length of time taken by the oha to make up its mind as the reasons the oha has told me to go ahead but theres opposition from uxbridge newmarket and markham said hakon son and its just taken too long theyve the oha had a year to get back to me while a final decision hasnt been made hakonson said the idea has been placed on the back burner im not real anxious contin ued hakonson theres not a lot of people coming out of the woodwork to come on board it may just die ive put my money and my time into it there was a lot of talk but no action hakonson said the decision of anderson to pull out had affect ed his thinking anderson is part owner of the kingston frontenacs junior a club the kingston team would have had a working relationship with the stouffville squad i dont blame don for pulling out said hakonson it just took too much time for the oha to decide hakonson said he was aware of the opposition to the fran chise but felt his team could have worked together with teams in neighbouring towns i was disappointed with the uxbridge bruins i had thought we could have worked together with us having a junior b team with connec tions with a junior a team it would only have been benefi cial to uxbridge and their play ers he expressed disappointment that his offer was treated so casually by the oha they had a charice at me but they didnt take it it would have worked i havent failed at anything ive done i know that sounds cocky but its true hakonson said he had shifted his focus to a new project which will see him set up a family restaurant with a motor sport theme at the deer park inn site on hwy 47 the property will also contain his sports clothing business which is cur rently located on sandiford dr in stouffville mm dont pay that traffic ticket 7 on t you could fece a substantial
