has been submitted to the ministry of municipal affairs for approval the town has received official plan amendment and secondary plan applications from swan lake markham limited to permit development of their lands and adjoining lands within the future urban area these lands form part of study area ib separate official plan amendment and secondary plan applications have been submitted for study area ib council has agreed that a separate official plan amendment and secondary plan can proceed at this time for the subject lands the applicant has prepared a sanitary servicing report in support of a proposal to service the lands within the boundary of the proposed official plan amendment and secondary plan on an interim basis the balance of the study area ib lands will be considered through a subsequent official plan amendment and secondary plan the draft official plan amendment and secondary plan for the subject lands has been prepared by the applicant and is currently under review by the town purpose and effect of the proposed amendment the proposed official plan amendment deals with 70 hectares of land its principal purposes are a to redesignate from study area ib to urban residential commercial open space and open space environmentally significant lands currently identified in the official plan 1987 as amended as future urban area and to delete the symbol denoting a former waste disposal site subject to a mitigation program to satisfy the provisions of the environmental protection act approved by the ministry of environment and energy that will be implemented and completed prior to development of the affected lands to incorporate a new secondary plan for the lands containing more detailed designations and policies governing the development of the area these policies relate to land use housing transportation servicing open space and urban design additional information the draft official plan amendment and secondary plan proposed by swan lake markham week at a classroom party this party is in honor of the fact that you have run business es and been very successful even with the high school teach ers work to rule gay eastman told her students the class was divided into companies with each group work ing on a specific project involving aspects such as bookkeeping advertising marketing and promotion a major beneficiary was the stouffville figure skating club which turned over respon sibility for this years ice review program to one of the teams of young entrepreneurs starting from scratch with guidance from gwen mclverknox and pamela wright the team organized production and distrib ution created designs and layouts and sold advertising in the program to local business people we started out in february with adam senour on accounts and me alex jordan and eddy emmons doing the sales explained brian mallinson the creative side was handled by rosanne succi and dan marujo as advertising sales people said jordan our job was to go to the businesses in stouffville and ask if they would like to pur chase an ad in the program the other part of our job was to help the people with what they wanted in the ad and work out how they wanted it laid out the figure skating club had lost money every year on the programs noted mallinson we actually made money for them other projects included the fashion show which was original ly slated to be held during the evening with an admission charge to raise money for the yellow brick house because of the work to rule however it had to be held during the day and students were unable to charge admission despite the setbacks it was a show the students should be proud of said sdss principal alan dickson it was done with out any teacher involvement and it would have been no better if there any been any ive been involved in two fashion shows and they have not gone as well as this did other projects included a bottle drive the snack shack which sold baked goods to public school students and a tshirt design company which made shirts for the volleyball team one enter prising pair set up a company called 13th hole selling pop to thirsty golfers on the 13th hole of a local course some of the students also participated in entrepreneurial workshops held wednesday evenings at langstaff secondary school where they successfully created and sold a shopping bag dispenser t ontario hydro ontario
