of the town of whitchurchstouffville has adopted a new bylaw no 93116 for the collection and removal of garbage in the town certain provisions of the bylaw have been summarized as follows all garbage shall be placed in a container or plastic bag designed and sold for the purpose of containing garbage and the weight of the container and its contents shall not exceed 22 kgs 50 lbs the number of containers placed for collection shall not exceed three 3 for each assessed dwelling unit commercial establishment industrial establishment commercial unit industrial unit noncollectible waste shall include but is not limited to recyclable materials collected under the blue box recycling program operated by the town corrugated cardboard hazardous wastes leaves grass and organic wastes tires batteries and automobile parts building materials plaster drywall shingles bandages syringes drugs and pathological wastes garbage shall be placed by the householders for collection not earlier than 1800 hours 600 pm local time on the day preceding collection and not later than 0700 hours 700 am local time on the day of collection empty containers and all material not collected as a result of not conforming with this bylaw shall be removed by the householder before 2000 hours 800 pm local time on the day of the garbage collection residents can reduce the amount of garbage placed out for collection by utilizing the curbside blue box program newspapers and glass tin ret plastic food and beverage containers the whitchurchstouffville recycling depot the recycling depot located at the stouffville works yard is operated by the whitchurch- stouffville recycling group the depot is open to all residents and businesses including those not receiving blue box collection hours of operation thursday 1 000 am 1 200 noon saturday 900 am 1200 noon acceptable material corrugated cardboard egg cartons fine paper computer paper newspaper telephone books catalogues glass and metal food and beverage containers composting food and yard waste accounts for thirtytwo percent 32 of our landfills and much of that is compostable illegal pumping bylaw 93116 prohibits the illegal dumping of refuse and debris on town road allowances and private property contravention of this bylaw is subject to a maximum fine of 5000 upon conviction for information regarding garbage and recycling
