course of study in our high schools more and more students are attracted to it each year but it is not only the smell of the greasepaint and the roar of the crowd that exert such strong pull students and their parents have come to realize that the skills learned in drama classes can be applied everywhere not only in theatre but at work of any kind in personal relationships and in evergrowing leisure time and drama classes are excit ing they are noted for their lack of discipline problems teachers claimthe techniques and topics studied are as varied as the skills they develop mime movement dance and tableaux stress the importance of body language in communication playwriting and storytelling en hance language skills and im agination shed inhibitions in creating their own theatre from theirown experience through improvisations docudra- ma and puppetry students learn about themselves and others in shedding their inhibitions they become more expressive both physically and verbally they learn to use the voice of advantage through exercises like choral speaking and theatre that most cooperative of art forms fosters the ability to work with others specific acting techniques usually taught in higher grades by the scene study of published plays develop students powers of concentration problem- solving and resourcefulness teaching methods and the in structors themselves are
