vered in their quest what a team local sleuths win festival treasures by marty hare andre pagliaro and his sister anna now have 100 reasons to re member the unionville festival andre 12 and anna 8 worked out the clues and found the trea sure chest key at the second annual great toogood pond trea sure hunt in doing so they beat hundreds of other treasure hunters to the 100 silver dollar prize hunt orga nizer marty hare explained the clues clue 1 layed down the rules and the prize you dont have to dig swim trespass or get into trouble to find it clue 2 had pictures of eight pondarea objects fences signs and things the clover leaf being natural was the odd one out the riddles dollar as each year pas sed phrase put the search around things old and natural clue 3 placed you on the monopoly boardwalk the best telescope view from the ponds northern boardwalk looks through trees at the pond pavi lion and the old natural boulders surrounding it clue 4 indicated that at the end of the maze was a key below many tumbling blocks rocks the rid dle asked you to be bolder and indicated underneath clue 5 the man skipping rocks and the riddle a stones throw away reinforced the rock or boulder theme clue 6 had the sleuth standing on a platform over the third large diamond rock underneath a light bulb the key was hidden in a space under one of the large boul ders at the northeast side of the pond pavilion the boulder was directly in line with a lamp post and a cement slab in the grass and what will andre do with his prize i think ill keep the silver dol lars as a souvenir he said this week but sources say hes nego tiating a deal to buy out his sis ters share retirees reward is free time after 30 years betty mccolgah is leaving the church behind her june retirement marks the end of a long rewarding career as minister of education at st andrews united ms mccolgan has spent the last three years edu cating children and adults in lead ership skills conducting con firmation classes and sunday church school her responsibilities also in clude planning special events and programs as well as occasionally conducting sunday worship ser vices last sundays service honored ms mccolgan and her achieve ments for which she received a substantial cheque as a gift from the congregation the gift makes it possible for me to have a winter holiday for the first time in my life she noted her graduation from the united church of canada as a diaconal minister in 1957 led to an exciting and varied ministry that took her from one end of the country to the other ms mccolgan was a christian education worker in newfound lands twillingate presbytery and developed a number of national leadership training prog rams she also initiated a cross gener ational curriculum for indians in northern manitoba ontario became her home after she accepted a position at thor- nhill united church as director of christian education where she stayed for eight years before moving to st andrews in 1984 ms mccolgan helped birch cliff united in scarborough salvage their declining congrega tion and initiated church prog rams and an active church board ms mccolgan has a home in thornhill but plans to spend most of her newfound leisure time travelling community work also interests her though she has never had the time before now to become directly involved people tell me im a young 65 she says and they
