scouts and guides met wednesday at latcham hall girl guides and boy scouts gathered to celebrate their founders birth days lord and lady baden- powell were both born on febru ary 22 in 1857 and 1858 respec tively thinking day is actually the cli max of thinking week which runs from february 1522 a week characterized by the remember- ance of the origin and the values the organization is built upon it is also an occasion to think about the guides and scouts in other coun tries thinking week is also interna tional week explained carol baird who is the leader of a mar kham brownie pack on the night prior to the festivities mrs baird and her brownies celebrated with a birthday cake and a slide pre sentation of the brownies in au stralia karen raineys path finders group are girls between the ages of 12 and 15 they celebrated with a thinking day parade at st pat ricks roman catholic church where the event was held the groups that attended ranged from beavers to rangers and were joined by the unionville boy scouts they all participated in the nondenominational church service during thinking week there is also the collection of pennies that are given to the canadian friendship fund mrs rainey said this fund contributes to buying books and the schooling of less privileged groups in other countries mrs rainey explained the smaller children collect pennies from their parents by helping with household chores such as washing the dishes the older children usually contribute to the fund from their allowances wednesdays church service also provided the opportunity for the boys and girls
