consulants sub mission of neighborhood designs for the plan but at least one markham coun cillor is dubious of the heritage neighborhoods feasibility for potential home buyers planning committee chairman elson miles says hell back the plan when shown it will fly but is skeptical about enormous costs involved in relocating and re novating the houses the towns initial plan indicates that buyers will pay for the costs of moving renovating and found ation construction for the homes as well as the townowned lots they will sit on planning consultant geoffrey fryer estimates the prices of homes when complete will run up wards of 200000 councillor miles says hes con cerned about not being able to fill the subdivision with authentic century homes with willing buyers and markham councillor gord landon at the meeting questioned the conclusion of the plan namely how the town will proceed when the most desirable lots are filled i would support it 100 per cent said councillor miles but i dont want it to halfgo thats not the idea despite his skepticism mar kham mayor carole bell says the innovation involved in developing a heritage subdivision will set an example for other muncipalities to follow she also said at the meeting that council must be willing to fully support the project thornhill councillor doreen quirk a real estate agent assured members the plan would be a marketable concept the market will be good be lieve me she said at the meet ing thats the expected house prices becoming a cheap house in markham mayor bell echoed councillor quirks faith in the project and said council would be foolhar dy in not taking advantage of the plan the mayor was first to suggest the town proceed with the next step in the plan as laid out by mr fryer including preparation of draft plans zoning bylaws and a soil study i think mr chairman that weve taken the step of producing this land said mayor bell i think we have to be determined in our own minds that this thing is going to
