uxbridge invitational on friday jennif er bunker left of goodwood who skates for uxbridge took the silver and markhams heather black won the bronze alan shackleton by alan shackleton sports editor local figure skaters put in some golden performances during the uxbridge in vita- tional on the weekend the competition is in its eighth year and brought together some 450 of the pro vinces bestskaters during the three day event in the prestigious novice ladies competitive final on sunday night tracy taylor a recent arrival to uxbridge from whitby skated to the gold medal jennifer cook of the ux bridge skating club did not compete in this event as she is preparing for her trip to the canada winter games next month troy mccully of uxbridge won the gold in the novice mens final mccully along with partner jill cassie also skated to gold in the prenovice dance final in the prepreliminary mens final uxbridges greg irwin took the gold in the junior dance final luke austin and sandra cas sie of uxbridge finished third jill cassie also finished third in the prenovice ladies final savina sindlay of uxbridge finished third in the junior ladies final in the prenovice mens fin al tim bunker of goodwood who skates with the uxbridge skating club finished second however uxbridge skaters werent the only ones to put in good performances the membersof the stouffville fi gure skating club more than held their own against some very experienced competi tion stephanie barclay of stouff ville finished fourth in the highly competitive senior ladies final also leslie penny and ramer replied for farquarson midget girls fail to defend keswick title the stouffville credit union midget girls hockey team travelled to keswick on the weekend but were unable to defend the cham pionship they won at the tourna ment last year the girls were runnersup in the championship game to newton- brook nuroc newtonbrook had great goal- tending said stouffville coach ted lowery thats what won them the game and it was a close game with newtonbrook edging stouffville 21 for the championship stouffville scored their only goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game robyn boyd on a set up by karen bach finally broke the new tonbrook goalies shut out stouffville had most of the play in i the games third period but they were constantly stopped by the hot j goaltending lowery said the road to the championship was not an easy one for stouffville as they had to win two close games against mississauga and another newtonbrook squad against mississauga goalie dorothy tscheng played superbly getting the shut out and leading stouffville to a 20 win toni bain had both the goals on assists from tammy davison in the second game stouffville edged newtonbrook 54 toni bain with two tammy davi-
