ing a vacancy thatll be difficult to fill dear mr thomas your experiences with street walkers in torontos downtown roaming around oct 16 brought to mind an incident that occurred while i was in the city recently it was a warm day in august and i was driving alone with the passenger side window down when i pulled up at an intersec tion in the carltonsherbourne area a young lady approached stuck her head inside and smiled ever so nicely at first i took her to be someone who recognized me as an old friend either that or someone who mistakenly recognized me as an old friend so i leaned over in the seat and said hello to my surprise she said do you want to go i stammered go where she replied to my place in the next block i guess she could tell i was some country bumpkin from stouffvil le for she quickly backed off when i indicated no interest in her offer ive been in toronto many times but never been proposi- tioned before in my car times must be tough when girls have to go that far for the excel lent coverage you provide in your newspaper to the various facili ties people and programs at parkview we have however mixed feelings about the cartoon published on the editorial page of the april 30 issue while wc recognize and understand the privileges of the cartoon ist wc are something less than happy with the caricature of the ladies moving into parkview village wc hope it does not reflect a stereotype in society of older persons in general from our perspective every older person is a person of worth to be regarded with respect and treated with dignity wc have interviewed everyone who is moving into the village and when one gets to know older persons as individuals one finds them to be interesting and attractive physical unattractiveness and peculiarities do not occur with any greater incidence than in any other age category other than the feelings i have just expressed wc did get a good laugh from the sketch people coming into parkview village with armloads of belongings yes even a cat or two is certainly a common occurence these days wc welcome thcmcvcryonc sincerely jm nighswandcr executive administrator parkview village stouffville stmarks catholic
