howard wednesday in the stouffville pentecostal church stephen 21 of bethesda road rr 2 stouffville died april 27 in wellesley hospital toronto the result of self- inflicted burns suffered a few hours previous rev pitts entitled his re marks the tale of two steves he described the morning of april 27 1986 as the awesome final chapter we are not here to sit in judg ment said pastor pitts his voice breaking with emotion his was a life filled with heart- wrenching conflicts rev pitts mentioned all the good things stephen had going for him a devoted family an active youth group and a con cerned church many like steve are caught in the dreadful pull between what is right and what is wrong he said the minister told of stephens musical talents and how he loved to play the drums he re called his trip to germany with the word of life youth mission ary team the jesus side of his life was the happy bright side but the devil used him like a yoyo and set him up for des truction stephen howard attended morning service on the sunday he died he asked to be taken home early later his family learned of the tragedy it was the worst of times said pastor pitts the winter of despair looking out over a closed flowerbanked casket into a sanctuary filled to overflowing rev pitts spoke of the close ness of those associated with stephens parents david and gail and sister cheryl we are a family in
