p6 weekender march 22 1986 weekender childrens page s their school honors patron saint hi there was much activity at st josephs separate school uxbridgc wednesday when staff and students celebrated st josephs day one of the participants was sixyearold melissa thomas of grade 1 erkki pohjolainen st josephs day by erkki pohjolainen with st patricks day in the limelight st josephs day on march 19 can easily be over looked but not at the uxbridge school named after the carpenter to celebrate their patron saints trade all students at st josephs separate school spent the first hour of wednesday work ing with wood instead of books principal john dcosta said this is the fourth year the date has been commemorated in this way students from junior kinder- garted to grade 6 were busy with glue nails hammer and saw while older students from grades 7 and 8 helped out as required the handywork ranged from doll house furniture to miniatures of sky scrapers and perhaps most importantly the children had fun while the din of pounding hammers and laughter rang through the halls the afternoon began with an hour of skating at the arena older students helped the younger ones with their skates and all had a great time this outing was spon sored by the st josephs parents guild brendan hcffcrnan 11 left assisted by chris dick enson 11 centre and derik ilavitch 10 construct a miniature rocking chair mchappydaysi weoapi2 nd from every big mac sold will help support participation house roof fund ronald mcdonald houses mchappy day thats the day when everyone pitches in to help local sports heroes business people and celebrities put on their aprons and go to work right at the counter come on in have a big mac and have a mchappy day its a good time for the great taste this page sponsored by mcdonalds markham hwy 7 mccowan rd
