judging from the lack of calls and sparsity of news items received this week i can only assume that our neigh bors in the hamlet are still pooped from the exhilorating efforts put forth at the winter car nival jan 29 to feb 2 from the months of preparation by the car nival committee to the days of fro licking in the snow by carnival goers im sure itll take more than a few days to recover from this years event by this week the town will be back to its usual bustling self and a fine menu of weekly activities will be back on tap a couple of noteworthy items were brought to my attention by dorothy britton first of all the united cooperative will be host ing its valentines dance on satur day feb 15 at claremont legion hall there will be a disc jockey and food will follow the dance admission is 5 finished reading a terrific book written by one of our very own residents lillian gaus- lin entitled from paths to planes it deals with the past present and future of the claremont area its chock full of information about the hamlet and its residents the publication has also opened my eyes to some of the concerns about our future for those of you who havent read it i highly re- commend you doso i spoke with mrs gauslin on the weekend and stumped her on a question that has puzzled me since moving here why is it that an abundance of the older homes in the area are painted green and white as my house is am i digging too deep for a hidden meaning or was that just the popular color scheme of the time id be interested in hearing from someone on this matter and setting my mind at ease bridge
