of her father and serve as a police officer its all ive ever wanted to do says the pleasant grade 10 student at stouffviue high mr snooks is a constable with york region working out of the de tachment at richmond hill leslies our vgirl next door a former resident of west hill leslie and her family moved to lincoln ville five years ago she has four brothers chris todd brian and daniel and one sister lisa leslie has fond memories of her years spent at whitchurch- highlands school i knew almost everyone she said the teachers she explained were very personal dealing with students on a onetoone basis especially does she re member staff members mr hopkins and mr bushells leslie won the schools athle tic award in grade 8 an honor she treasures highly she play ed the french horn in the band there and also in the jr band at sdss leslie doesnt bide her love for sports basketball in par ticular she also enjoys horse back riding crosscountry vol leyball track and field swim ming jogging and cycling friday students are still waiting for word on the fate of hippie day or has everyone forgotten about it also last week the girls vol leyball teams continued their win ning ways in excellent style the juniors now 102 for the season won all four of their matches the senidrs also won each of their four- matches last week and are now way out in front of the rest of the league holding a sparkling record i of 12 wins and no losses on thurs- day they easily handled new market beating them 15 8 and 15 4 they then came out on top end of a hardfought match against an alwaysdifficult team from sutton beating them in a best of three series 815 159 and 15 9 the seniors have now beaten every team in the league both juniors and seniors are hop ing to win georgian bay cham pionships but enough of what has hap pened in the past lets look fore- ward to what will happen in the near future particularly valen tines day yes this should be the romantic week of the year and what could be more romantic than entering a danceathon its 10 hours of dancing with that special someone now thats ro mance for those of fainter heart a valentines dance will begin at 8 pm friday feb 14 to accom pany the danceathon it will be less taxing physically lasting only three hours grade 8 parents night high school tour for moms dads stouffville for grade 8 graduates of ballantrae dicksons hill orchard park and summitview schools the adjustment to high school is several months away however for the principal and viceprincipal of sdss prepara tion time is now to alert students their mothers and fathers to secondary school requirements a grade 8 parents night is set for thursday to morrow night feb 13 the evening will begin at 7 pm with coffee and donuts from 7 30 to 830 a presentation will be made relating to diploma requirements and course selections for grade 9 students in addition the philosophy of stouffviue high will be explained from 830 to 10 tours of the school will be conducted in groups of eight teachers from each subject area will be available in their classrooms to answer questions parents will be encouraged to ask questions of student prefects all parents will be given
