orchard park schools annual science fair for grades 4 to 8 was held last week many fantastic projects were dis played the ear an entry by 12yearold scott ferris came first in the life sciences class for grades 7 and 8 scott said he began with one dia gram last sum mer and did all the research since middecember using books from the stouffville library he pasted numerous colored illustrations onto the display to accom pany the 16 neatly written pages of information scott said his past three science projects have dealt with parts of the body these being the eye the brain and the heart i with all the knowledge he has aquired in the study of human ana tomy one might think scott wants to be a doctor but one would be wrong he intends to be an astronomer or an architect if he keeps up his studying standards hes bound to succeed coming second in the same catagory was cammie ratcliff with a project on coffee followed by a tie for third between dina emerys work on herbs and spices and jem barkers study of the human eye steve lemottee with his investigation of the telescope won in the applied science and engineering catagory for grades 7 and 8 mike isamrrellnd ian wisniewski came second with their study of las ersffolibwed by carston von enckerorts work with radibcontrol car electronics in the math and physical science competition for the same grades lnanne nichols was awarded first prize for her investigation into which detergent is best karen milling came second with her work entitled bleve followed by susie anderson and her hairraising study of static in the grades 4 to 6 level of the math and physical science catagory amy pritzker came first with a project demonstrating air as the actual levening agent in baking jennifer lehman came second with her look into the spectrum of color followed by a tie for third between samantha medleys work on crystals and a project on light and color by karen paisley and charlene nugent in the grades 4 to 6 applied science and engineering class kevin cargill finished first with his project on telephones second place was judged a tie between brynn epps study of syphons and stacy betz look at the camera shane stanley and vince wilson- took third with their combined work on electric motors in the life sciences competition jason cowan walked away with first prize in the grades 4 to 6 class for his study on bees production of honey followed by heather lemottees investigation of fungus mar- cra pritzker with her work on taste entitled hold your tongue finished in a tie for third with a project on the eye by kristi logvinof f avid
