the toughest deci sion shell ever have to make many of her friends were switching over to the new high school at unionville others be cause they live at stouffville were staying on at sdss vicki decided to stay where she started at stouffville in fact she plans to complete her grade 13 there shes presently a student in grade 11 and our girl next door 1 dont regret it says vicki she appreciates the smallness of sdss and the friendliness of the students and staff parti- cularly does she appreciate her special friends joanne fock- ler and kelly rae she claims theyve influenced her life greatly and she hopes to retain their friendships long after gra duation vicki moved to markham from scarborough with her pa rents gord and diane smith and older sister chris two years ago she plays hockey and fastball in stouffville vol leyballs another favorite sport although transportation be tween the two towns could pre sent a problem vicki says her parents are very helpful in this regard on occasions she stays over with joanne or kelly she admits looking forward to obtaining her drivers licence possibly this month theatre arts is vickis favo rite subject mrs stamatious i her favorite teacher vickis been to the bahamas and hopes some day to visit au stralia as to a future career vickis not quite sure i just want to be my own boss she says with certainty sixteenyearold high news bucket ball champs by chris garbutt now that students have com pleted exams and are anxiously awaiting results there are many things to do around sdss to alleviate the postexam de pression the athletic council held its third intramural of the school year bucket ball is an ex citing sport exclusive to stouff ville high it is similar to basket ball except a volleyball is used in stead of a basketball and garbage bins replace hoops competition was fierce with the victors in both divisions having to go allout for their wins junior division the junior division was cap tured by a tough and determined grade 9 team members of 9g01 follow sandra mitchinson cin dy morton audrey brummel ursula benders michelle bar ker ted stonehouse chris top ping chris winn bruce hachey and todd townend senior division the senior division set an even fiercer pace the champion was 11g01 but not without protest the grade 13s felt everyone was ganging up on them never-the- less the grade lls triumphed gaining a welldeserved victory team members follow linda hachey jane anderson mary sled lisa zeck karey white pam powell annika hannan patricia benders paul sinclair john brummell darren mont gomery burke bridgman brian lilleberg tom letkeman and rick poeitl impressive win in other sports news the senior boys basketball team came up with an impressive win this could be the key to turning around an otherwise notsoimpressive season the senior girls volleyball team continued their success at press time they had yet to lose a match during regular season play tryouts for badminton begin this week plan danceathon rumors of a danceathon are true this is the second athon held at sdss this year if walk ing isnt your thing then maybe dancing is the danceathon will be held on valentines day that seems appropriate it will begin at 1 pm and continue ten hours as with the walkathon pledges must be handed in prior to the event this marks the first dance- athon in three years so grab a partner and don your dancing shoes flyup ceremony held at goodwood goodwood six tweenies advanced to brownies and three tenderfoots were promoted to guides at an impressive cere mony monday in the goodvood community hall the tweenie leader is ceci far- quharson the tenderfoot leader is louise renwick promoted to brownies were- stephanie kennedy maggie mcmaniman emily mahood katie renwick julie taylor and meighan vannostrand advancing to guides vvere- patricia renwick melissa van- dergulik and kim evanoff district commissioner nancy hannah of uxbridge attended the ceremony and congratulated the
