beginners it was simply a pet it wasnt until three years ago that her competetive spirit was ignited into a flame that burns brighter with every show julies first horse was meadow syl she bought him in a sale at quarterama in toronto it had never been broken or rid den the two became inseparable however for horse and rider all good things must come to an end he lies buried on the property a loss julie felt keenly it was like losing a brother she said i couldnt go to work for a week meadow syls successor is musical reylene a beautiful fiveyearold quar ter horse mare julie bought her for a price after attending the quarter horse congress in ohio although julie admits she just about dropped dead when she learned the cost she doesnt regret the purchase good horses she says can range from she won allround horse for most points during the day and reserve high point amateur in the latter she missed out on the championship by only one second sure for a few minuties i was upset she admits realizing shed come so close but i was still thrilled that id done that well three weeks ago- at burlington she won grand champion mare julie declines to accept all the credit in stead she praises the work of her trainer and coach patti carter describing her as excellent she also appreciates the co operation of husband geoff and her pa rents mr and mrs harry lee my familys been very supportive she says julies string of victories are visible in the array of trophies and ribbons that de corate the walls of her ninth line home she hopes to add to this display theres so much i want to do i could go on forever julie says the allround amateur championship of ontario is a goal in 1986 and then theres bouquet of flowers a yearling foal still prancing around the pasture i have high hopes for her says
