size are now in need of an assistant director our very capable director michael coghlan lives in mississauga and feels an assistant is essential in case of his absence at a show or rehearsal he would also make good use of an assis tants talents during regular rehearsals as well as having him or her direct during major shows we are looking for someone who could fill this position im mediately as we generous donations from local individuals businesses and groups helped organizers of this years claremont winter carnival to a very small deficit said carnival spokesman peter gillespie the town of pickering chipped in 250 while colley borland and vale insurance added 100 donations of 50 apiece came from cano walls and the legion ladies auxiliary several individuals helped out as well while further revenue came from the sale of buttons and food the carnivals expenses added up to approximately 1000 gillespie said some new ideas have already been tabled for next years carnival said gilles pie logsawing and beardgrowing con tests are on tap as are crosscountry skiing and a larger parade with marching bands he said the 25person carnival commit tee is considering a number of changes in approach for next year they hope to make it a twoday event instead of a saturday affair and plan to organize their own cater ing and dance a more extensive publicity campaign is also in the works in hopes of attracting more outsiders fashion show goodwood to combat winter temperatures the goodwood womens club is hosting a fashion shw which will feature knit fur and custom leather gar ments friday feb 10 from 930 to 1130 am at the goodwood community hall the fashion show items are by paula lishman also during the morning coffee edith lewis will provide music and staff training consultant for
