friday night many students received awards for outstanding achievements accomplished during their high school years some of those award winners are as fouows winners of subject awards for highest proficiency were accounting terrian- ne teigen algebra chemistry english and latin john ikonomidis art carolyn washburn biology david poyner calculus and physics karin boehlke economics mark kohler family and consumer studies paul rodgers french jennifer de tombe functions and relations michael zim merman geography melinda ristich history mark warner mathematics of investment charles fiss and music sanchia mooney other subject awards in cluded business education sondra laviolette and drama leslie snowden winners of the jh fenton technical awards which were established in 1975 were auto herman willemsen draft ingarchitectural jennifer de tombe electronics allan odle industrial arts robert lawrence machine shop shawn mckillop and woodwork hel mut luecke the students who showed outstanding excellence in academics athletics and ex- tracurricular activities received the school letter awards these students were michael french dawn govan vin cent morgan and timothy urech the pickering womens institute tro phy and the pickering rotary club award which are for high academic achievement were awarded to john ikonomidis dawn govan was awarded the simcoe engineering award which is presented to a student planning to pursue a career in en gineering the auxiliary to the ajax and pickering hospital bursaries were awarded to lori roger for nursing lynda warren for reg istered nursing assistant and timothy calvert received the emily fletcher memorial nursing bursary for medicine other than nursing recipients of the following awards were the brougham citizens league award scott margerison and wendy turner the rs hodgins memorial plaque michael swan the pickering high school faculty bursary karin boehlke lori roger and mark warner the harvey hubbell co bursary kathleen mccarthy the monarch marking systems bursary v dale pascoe the standard industries bur sary gayle plewes the supreme alumi num industries bursary charles fiss the seaton golf club bursary karin boehlke the pickering high school 25th anniversary bursary maureen mcna- mara the reeves art award carolyn washburn and the egoroff award frank kakouros anita tomeljak won the anne stratton memorial trophy which is awarded to the allround girl vincent morgan won the dunbarton kiwanis club trophy for the alirouhdbby other awards included the w percy neal memorial trophy donna michel business andprofessionalwomens club of ajaxpickering bursary sarah cran- field the principals trophy michael french the pickering lions club bursary lynne reiffenstein and sanchia mooney two categories of awards were pre sented under the students council awards to senior students on the council these were pro meritis awards given to karin boehlke anita tomeljak and mark war ner and the distinctive contribution awards which went to students who contri buted much of their time energy and hard work to different areas within the school these students were- lisa burton mary damtsis sandra de jeu jinna findlay michael french joanna johnson jane long kevin rooney marlon shaw leslie snowden christine smith and elizabeth wells richelle brunatti received the district 17 osstf award and mark kohler was presented with the canadian tire ajax rd nicholson award certificates in recognition of academic excellence were awarded to students from grade 9 to grade 12 winners in grade 9 were shamayne hakim
