honor at the community hall dec 18 a mock wedding was held along with a serious ceremony in which the pilkeys reaf firmed their marriage vows attendants were their three daughters terri tuck lenni mar tin and tracey pilkey best man was their son larry pilkey shirley wore her original wed ding gown and earl gave her a new wed ding band the homes are all de corated but the judg ing has still to be done for the bestdecorated home contest or at least it was still being awaited early monday night however it was hoped to find enough judges to head out in the snow later in the evening and see which homes in claremont were giving off that welldecorated christ mas spirit claremont united church sunday school invites the whole fami- ly to join them in christmas carolling on dec 22 meet at the churchat 630 pm and return afterwards for refreshments and a special treat children six and under must be accompanied by a pa rent the baptist church will be holding a cand lelight service of les sons and carols dec 22 at 7 pm the com munity is welcome to join in this service of worship the united church sunday school christ mas concert was held dec 19 the sunday school presented the musical drama what a rotten christmas in which one saw its true meaning from a different point of view the processional was led by the choir adult class and first claremont guide com pany with carolvn evans and michelle mcginnes the leaders participants in the dra ma were patti evans donna carruthers deanna evans diedre douglas leanne red- shaw wayne mere dith david lehman chad redshaw pam evans chris peddie sherry carruthers pam taylor david leeming jenni red shaw darrell vander- light stephanie wol- lin lillian douglas and teachers jill wol- lin marina rodgers and nairene lowe the beginners class led by bettyanne meredith and barbara tran sang two songs away in a manger and over the hills to beth lehem the class in cludes shaun tran shawn carruthers dwayne vanderlight laura winterstein cheryl and michelle norton darrin leh man lindsay gra ham lisa jones emi ly marks yolanda rid ley and leanne leh man special thanks to carole redshaw on the piano and clarion baker on organ for adding so much to the concert by elsie boland goodwood goodwood united church held a special service on sunday morning with the de dication of new hymn books and new choir gowns rev edith ann mac maniman deli vered the sermon which was followed by communion the church was decorated in green boughs with oil lamps and a beauti ful tree there will be a christmas eve ser vice with special music starting at730 everyone is welcome if you are wanting a pet for christmas try both uxbridge and ryans animal shel ters kittens of assorted sizes and col ors are available at jack symes goodwood senior citizens held their christmas dinner par ty last tuesday at goodwood hall there was an exchange of gifts and santa came in from stouff ville we greatly appreciate this kindness from mrs santa in stouffville euchre was played with many prize win ners tuesday night goodwood united church choir took part in the pine grove church christmas ser vice its a beautiful old church heated with a big stove and lighted by oil lamps the church was packed and many had to stand great credit goes to the women of the church for their contribution toward the fellowship the girl guides held their christmas con cert in goodwood hall last tuesday under the leadership of cathy hopkins friday evening was the united churchs sunday school concert and pot luck dinner the children did a good job as did santa claus when he arrived later saturday night was the couples club dance and supper a 2 1j tn great dance and a great supper the moms and tots christmasparty at goodwood hall- dec 18 was a successful event 1 now comes the
