the tribune wednesday december 1 1982 ast ectitofevmail jdear editor i wish to comment on mrs edwards let- ter under the heading inhumane pub lished in the tribune ofsept i am not an employee of the humane society but i try to locate the owners of lost and found animals as a hobby i have been doing this for about fifteen years with the help of the ontario humane and judy barrett of whitchurchstouf f ville canine control my biggest amaze ment is owners of pets that will not put a col lar and id tags with their phone number on lorasa largaii cut your xmas trees youufind ii in she ttrtliuuc their pets i keep io collars on my pets boih with an id on them just in case they slip their collars the tags can be purchased in any pet store dog licence tags are issued with their li cences and are very rarely attached to the animals collars but usually are thrown in a drawer they are provided to you to identify your dog if lost and can be re placed for a small charge if mrs edwards kit ten had a tag with a phone number it could have been returned to her without the canine control being called if the kitten had not been picked up it could have ended up under the wheels of car and been badlv injured why did mrs ed wards wait three days tp report the kitten missing it is not a pleasant job to pick up an anim al with no id as you know it is rarely claimed and few are adopted when you only have ten cages what do you do with twenty animals if this letter will prompt even one per son to put a tag or id on his beloved pet i will be happy sincerely elsie mcnzies rr 3
