from york university lenores grandmother is gladys vaughan of stouffville iwm rt- v stouffville after a short period of poor health mrs mary nettie james whittle- ton went to be with her lord sunday aug 1 from parkview home stouffville she was 92 mrs james was born on 2 farm south of goodwood june 12 1890 the daughter of edmund and ada storey whittleton she had ten brothers and sisters and at the age of 14 when her mother died she bad to leave school and care for the family in her early twen- ties she moved to western canada where two brothers and a sis ter were already liv ing there she homes- teaded with her brother russel at fusi lier saskatchewan enduring the rigors of the early western pioneers from which she could relate many exciting stories she also learned the dress- making trade in regina on sept 4 1920 she married joseph james in saskatoon sas katchewan to the un ion was born three boysronald of stouff ville- wesley de ceased of mississauga and wallace of bramp ton there are eight grandchildren and one greatgrandchild in 1928 they moved from the west to the goodwood area and then to stouffville in 1941 where she resided until her death the last eight years being spent at parkview home james was a wonderful mother and homemaker always prepared for even un- expected visits from her family she fol lowed all their activi ties with great interest and concern keeping all members informed of each others involve ments her exception al love of children won her- many younger friends to the end she retained a keen mind and marvellous memory- mrs james attended the stouffville mission ary church where for many years she was a sunday school teacher of both the young peo ples and adult bible classes she was an ar dent student of the bi ble and spent much time in reading and study even in her later years she had attended thegreat northwest bible col lege in edmonton alberta on a parttime basis her love and de- i votion to her lord and saviour jesus christ was readily recog- nized the funeral was con ducted by rev arthur walsh aug 4 from the stouffville missionary church the theme of the service was readiness her granddaughter lois james sang a solo en titled face to face the grandsons- serv ing as pallbearers werebrian james gordon roach calvin rae glen james and kevin james inter ment was at goodwood cemetery late bruce lehman a great pitcher bruce lehman one of the finest hardball pitchers evertodon a stouffville uniform died suddenly aug- 1 n simcoe general hos pital he was 76 bom at almira the son of willis and ada lehman bruce work ed in the mill there la ter moving to delhi where he carried on the same type of employ ment r he was renowned for hispitching skills with the battery combina tion of bruce on the mound and brother lew
