us for their daily bread walter beath chairman of the regional municipality of durham told york regions plowmens associations at their annual banquet and awards presentations friday agriculture is the only industry necessary to the survival of the human race he continued and plowing is recognized as the basis of this industry mr beath encouraged and supported these com petitions because they provide the general population with good examples of the farmer at work he said the group had shown interest and en thusiasm and demon strated the sportsmanship and skill of their time- honored of fered congratulations to all plowmen from york who were winners particularly create hockey hall of fame herb jarvis winner of the east york plowmans area and ontario reserve champion receives a hug from his wife laurena and a big kiss from one of his daughters linda he was presented with his trophies at the plowmans association banquet edschroeter lloyd grove and herb jarvis the ontario champions i wish you well in the future he said the north york director of the ontario plowmens association art mitchell and don pearson the east york- king and vaughan director added their personal best wishes to the ontario title- holders mr pearson noted the accomplishment was not unusual among the york associations we have eight or more champions sitting in this room my congratulations and i hope you do well in the nationals he said keep up the good work 4 markham markham has its own hockey hall of fame and no one is prouder of this project than john lunau its originator the display is set up just inside the centennial centre on mccowan road pictures of players go as far back as 1905 john lunau trainer with the old markham millionaires and later the nhl oldtimers has been collecting photos and stories for the past 35 years most were accommodated at the museum where john serves as curator earlier this year he was approached by larry pullen of the markham parks and recreation
