ballantrae resident asphyxiated in car ballantrae rev jim clubine associate pastor of the stouffville missionary church conducted the funeral service nov 20 for robert gordon agnew from churchill baptist church bob agnew passed away nov 17 in a tragic accident he was asphyxiated while seated beautiful home carl keffers beautiful victorianstyled home on ridgevale drive box grove is advertised that capacity 22 years a hardworking man he held down another job at the same time mr agnew loved children beside raising their own family of five the agnews were foster parents to others over the past 19 years bob agnew was a man of many talents adept at mechanics and carpentry a member of the ballantrae lions club and the firefighters club he was also iden tified with the churchill baptist church surviving are his wife joan sons robert and jerry daughters ellen robinson linda and alice a brother alex his sister margaret whitnead and one grandson jason mr agnew is predeceased by a that era in the weeks ahead well be leafing back through the files of old tribunes to find out we hope you find the series interesting maybe even humorous as a starter we dusted off the volume dated 1938 forty years ago here are the stories that prompted street- corner conversations during the month of november a court case in volving village barber len keeping was page 1 news it seems len was driving us 1930 ford sports coupe along the main street of markham beading towards stouff ville when his car was struck by a runaway horse evidence revealed that a chap by the name of payne a hired hand for markham farmer harry rolph had been i driving mr rolphs horse and rig to the grist mill on the way he stopped in at hamiltons garage but neglected to tie the anlml op if ran away and according to the report jumped into the keeping auto damage was estimated at 120 after reserving judgement judge barton ruled that mr rolph was responsible for his em ployees actions and ordered
