unexpected as folks arrived for the concert at the baptist church last saturday eve ning they learned that mr harry woodland had been seriously injured in an accident with his snow- blower harry was taken to scarboro centenary hos pital with broken bones in his shoulder and arm the concert went on as sched uled but attention was of course divided each child who partici pated stepped through a page of a huge bible con structed by mr gord jones and mr ted kidd eacli class served to illustrate an old testament prop hesy of the coming of the messiah mr bob dawson acted as narrator the pro gram came to a close with a pantomine performed by the senior girls mrs may jones and mrs betty maye sang the accompaniment this year while mrs holt played the piano the united church sun day school concert on monday night was per formed by lantern light before an audience wear ing overcoats and muff lers the hydro was off again in the south end of the village it came on be fore the program was over long enough to give a little heat to the long- suffering homeowners and then quit for a couple mere hours folks in this end of town have been putting up with low voltage for some time it dims the lights inter feres with the television overworks appliances and increases the hydro bill spirits at the concert were not dampened how ever lack of hydro pre vented mr woodhouse from showing his film and slides but mrs violet wagg at the piano rev thormin with his flute and mr bob cudlip with his fine singing voice kept everyone on key as they sang christmas carols and each class carried out its performance from wel come spelled out by the preschoolers while marc bennett young gave his recitation to a candle- lighting service performed by the senior girls mr george baldwin who moved to woodville with his family early in the year suffered a heart at tack last sunday and was rushed to lindsay hospi tal he died on tuesday december 23 several people from goodwood at tended his funeral at woodville the day after christmas our sympathy goes out to his wife mar ion his two children terry and susan his mother and his sister mrs kathleen may we would also express our condolences to the family of mr glen xorton who was killed in an acci dent with his truck on december 23 his funeral was held in claremont on saturday december 27 littlerobert the young est grasser child was in hospital again but was al lowed to come home for christmas and his grand ma arrived from pennsyl vania to spend the holiday with the family miss mary ellen maye got her pneumonia back for christmas and was un able to go to her aunt ivas for the familys annual christmas dinner so her aunt and uncle mr and mrs chas ratcliff of lemonville came to spend christmas eve with mary and her parents mr and mrs marv maye watchnight service bv ruth hutchings green river a social hour is planned for wednesday evening at the home of mr and mrs j c irwin of whitevale with a watchnight service at 1115 a group of sunday school pupils with their superintendent miss k gostick also mrs h tap- scott and rev amery de livered boxes to shutins and senior citizens in the community later they gathered in the sunday school room for hot choc olate and lunch mr and mrs william duncan spent christmas with their family at the home of mv and mrs gor don duncan willowdale it was an oldfashioned christmas day gathering at the home of mrs jack nighswander celebrate 7th anniversary whitchurch twp the 1st lemonville brownie pack held an en rollment tea on the oc casion of their 7th anni versary the ceremony held in the lemonville church took the format of a moon shot tweenies enrolled wore space hel mets enrolled were an ne campbell shirley hre- bik vickie job andrea lawson lori macfarlane heather merries kelly morris laurie rainey and angela wier golden bars and first year stars were awarded to paulett chamberlain joanne ea- ley norine humphries debbie lloyd and lynn rae brown owl jaquie turner and tawny owl mrs agnes may presented golden hand awards to kathy lloyd cathy wood and dana turner while cindy colter kathy lowe debbie murby and carol tipson won golden lad ders first year stars went to sally courage and irene hrebik a sixer stripe was earned bv barbara colter proficien cy badges were earned by paulett chamberlain anil laurie rainey toymak- ers kathy lowe swim mer and debbie lloyd collector the lemonville pack donated 10 pairs of mit tens to the lemonville churchs christmas tree in conjunction with the cgit the brownies col lected 30 for unicef the first vandorf pack joined lemonville in a gala christmas party dec 13 the brownies came in all manner of weird and wonderful costumes in the evening the brownies attended aperformance of hansel and gretel at stouffville high school a joint christmas partv was held dec is at the whitchurch centennial center for the ballantrae guides and brownies first year stars were awarded bv brown owl pat ren- shavv to phyllis card ca
