that the board and secondary school teachers had reach ed tentative agreement on salary schedules the new schedule yet to be ratified by teachers at large puts york coun ty teachers in all cases at caused by circumstances appar ently due to accidental electrocution the jury decided that mr roberts had not been negligent but rather un familiar with the peculi arities of the electrical circuit he cut into with wire cutters in addition to incorpor ating technical safety rec ommendations from a safety engineer with the ontario dept of labor the jury suggested that mats made of insulating material be placed in front of electrical panels lloyd graham the safe ty engineer estimated that 3500 volts passed through mr roberts when he cut a wire to re move a meter mr graham said that 110 volts have been known to kill people crown attorney bruce affleck who conducted the inquest suggested that as a layman he found mr roberts actions not those of a reasonably prudent man mr graham of the dept of labor said he found it very strange that mr roberts would not deenergize the sys tem perhaps he didnt realize the voltage with which he was dealing he commented adding i that the meters were just mounted in an instrument cabinet he said the lighc wiring he cut into with nippers might have mis led him mr graham after a vis it to the scene of the elec trocution issued a set of directives to lasco steel they include the require ment that employees be properly instructed when required to work on elec trical control equipment the company must in form employees of the hazards
