v g shillington the hardest nut to crack this christmas will not be a hazel nut or a brazil nut it will be the virgin birth of christ some people dont want to think much about it some face it then rea son it away still some reason it into its proper place but what do you think about it let me ask ft this why dont we celebrate the birth of ari- stotle plato or einstein all great men of the g past what is so special about this other great j man in history called jesus christ here it j is the virgin birth g but it couldnt happen you say every g single law of nature is against it right i be- g lieve in nature too but i wouldnt go so far as g to say that we should let nature take its course g i had to weed my garden this year nature was g against me there were some cases of rape in g the papers lately partly because some people g felt that nature should take its course im g afraid nature can be cruel at times dont you g it seems to me that something has gone g wrong with nature somewhere along the line s you see my friends the whole matter of the s birth of jesus christ without the natural aid of a male human rests upon what you think of 5 god and the present nature of things for many thinking people god has been ere- 8 ating babies for years dont you believe it when 8 some proud father tells you that he created that new baby of his he had very little to do 8 with it and what he had to do with it was not g creative the whole system of natural birth started long ago by the originator of all life a now the virgin birth is a break in the line 8 of natural births it is different what god had 8 g been doing for thousands of years he did in a i new way this time this time it was special be- 8 i cause the baby to be born was special he was g g the true son of god born without the aid of s g any man that is why christmas is so special 1 to people who believe 2 centennial project completed bloomington re cently a centennial project became a reality when a sign reading bloomington methodist cemetery was erected at the north ceme tery east of the four corn ers the sign is a wrought iron structure in black with letters in gold it was assembled by walt smith of stouffville mr smith donated his time and la bour to the project many donations were re ceived which helped to make a dream come true for a group of girls who formed a sunday school class almost fifty years ago under the leadership of the late mrs edgar storry the church where the class was held stood at the east side of the ceme tery but this was removed in 1939 after being sold three years ago a re union was held in stouff ville park by all members of the original class and it was decided to erect a sign in honour of the highly respected blooming- ton citizens who are laid to rest in the little country cemetery recently a bee was held and the sign was put in place with the help of mr m barnes murray ramer warren rae and eldon smith oldtmk theymarred for better or worse hecwldhtme christmas season marks the beginning of an ex tended holiday period that will see traffic mount to new highs on the nations highways in many areas driving conditions will be more hazardous during this time because of weather hundreds of americans lose their lives annually on the highways during the christmas holiday per iod use all precautions dont be a traffic statistic 1ft jf benjamin yt moored have been read ing in our newspapers of the tremendous opposi tion from residents of the surrounding communities to the proposed enlarge ment of toronto interna tional airport residents of etobicoke mississauga brampton and other peel county communities have been holding dozens of crowd ed meetings to register their protests and have even sent a delegation to ottawa and one to queens park to express their opposition to this project these people oppose en largement of the existing airport because they are already only too familiar with the tremendous noise and nuisance created by the big jets landing and taking off at toronto air port many residents liv ing miles from the airport but on one of the flight paths claim that they can not get a nights sleep be cause of the roar of the jets they fear that en larging this airport to gether with the increased air traffic expected and the advent soon of the new jumbo jels will make their lives altogether intolerable much of the great resi dential buildup in the ar eas affected by toronto international airport has occurred since that air port was built presum ably then most of the residents now in those ar eas did have the opportun ity to learn what they were getting themselves into before they moved there now we in the area east of metro toronto have last weeks press release from ontario riding mp norm cafik in which he says that he has suggested to the federal minister of transport mr hellyer that instead of enlarging toronio international a new airport be built in ontario riding he goes on to say that he thinks such an airport would be a great boon to the area misery indeed loves company evidently our liberal mp feels that he s pipers coming one of the outstanding the uxbridge legion contributions to the success of stouftvilles santa parade was the fine pipe band of staff photo can make a contribution to his constituency by sug gesting that the misery surrounding toronto in ternational airport be di vided up so that we can enjoy our share of it thus helping mr hellyer out of the corner he is backed into with the evidence right before us in the daily re ports of the controversy surrounding the proposed enlargement of toronto airport i hope the resi dents of our area are not going to be taken in by this suggestion of mr ca- fiks under the guise of socalled progress announcement is ex pected from ottawa of the final decision regarding torontos airport prob lem within the next few days probably by the time you receive this let ter if they fry to palm off an airport scheme in this area i hope other cit izens will join me in flatly opposing it c t muirhead rr 1 claremont fellowship meeting bloomington a large group of ladies from the associated gospel church newmarket were guests of the
