vouchers to be used at stiver bros and don lewis nurseries were distributed these will provide some extra beauty spots in the gardens the society donated 5000 for the landscaping project at the front entrance to parkview home on rupert avenue twelve directors meetings were held with an average attendance of fifteen and ten open meetings with flower shows at four of them mr rus sell wideman of markham and mr and mrs clifford winn of goodwood were guest judges at the august show held in the united church schoolroom there were over 300 entries of excellent quality miss ada linton director of district no 5 was the judge at the open meetings held in the presbyterian churc base ment a variety of pictures were shown mr and mrs eugene lemon explained and illustrated the conservation program in the states of utah and colorado mr and walter atkinson took u on a colourful trip through central europe mr stanley schdmit showed i some fine bird pictures as a result of his birdwatching hobby mr and mrs frank burk- i holder had slides of two trips j florida and western canada at the anniversary meeting in j april rev alan borland was the guest speaker taking us on a tour around ottawa mrs dorothy duncan direc tor of education at pioneer vil lage delighted her audience with an illustrated talk on her work at black creek conserva tion area mr and mrs malcolm keith showed pictures of their trip through the western states mrs charles reynolds of the yukon and western canada and mrs delia paisley of the beauty spots in british colum bia and the rocky mountains pictures of the bus trip by mrs h pugh mrs w timbers mrs a ratcliff miss helen nicely mr eugene baker and mr chas james were enjoyed by the members a flower arrangement demonstration was given by mrs russell jarvis of mark ham for musical entertainment we had a variety of talent the lemonville ladies quintette a duet by mrs fred byer and mr eugene baker the bloom- ington male quintette solos by- mrs alma oldham mrs fred byer and mr garnet rae miss beverley bell rendered selec tions on the accordion and sang two solos a musical pro gram presented by the chora- liers under the leadership of mr edmunds was enjoyed mrs storey and mrs timbers of our society judged the two flower shows at mount albert on august 18 and 19 on september 22 1965 our society entertained district no 5 in stouffville legion hall about two hundred were in attendance and at the conclu sion of the program a buffet lunch was served at the international plowing match held at masseyferguson farms october 1316 the directors of our society along with other societies of district 5 arranged a beautiful floral display in the york county tent the executive and directors enjoyed a crokinole party at the home of mr and mrs w timbers and in july a picnic supper at bruce miiis conser vation park on tuesday morning july 6 eighty two members and friends left stouffville on the bus tour to hamilton parks our first stop was at the rock gardens we were fortunate to have mr leslie lakin of the royal botanical gardens to join us for the tour of the arbore tum and lilac bell and the demonstration of hedge plants he also took us to liie spring garden to see some beautiful liles in bloom other points of interest included dundurn park childrens gatden mc- master university grounds drive to the top of the mountain for a view of the city
