return the train consisting of a bajzsage car some ten passenger cars a cafe teria car and a new skyview lounge was drawn by a steam locomotive one of the few still operational left in the country- a great many citizens perked up their ears about ten am as they heard the familiar whistle that has been silent now for some years some were on hand as the train went throush in the morning but many more had gathered to see the return run in the evening the train did not stop here engine rebuilt the several other such excur sions that have passed through town were drawn by cnr locomotive 6167 hut in the fall of last year it became necessary to retire this iron horse forsee- ing the possibility of this the cnr had engine 621s rebuilt and this summer this engine has made quite a number of these trips on various lines radiating out of toronto the trips are sponsored by the upper canada railway society diesels from lindsay oh steam engine 621s handled the trip from toronto to lind say and return to toronto two diesels were used from lindsay to haliburton and return the halihurton line was not built to handle an engine as heavy as 6218 farthermore there are no facilities in haliburton to turn engines the diesels do not re quire turning hut operate in either direction with equal effi ciency while the train was making the haliburtoi trip 621s was coaled and watered the cnr had 213
