the tax payer witli deceptive duplicity of interest amongst the town ship reeve scott the assessment commissioner goslin certain members of the township council and the court of revision for the only apparent purpose of hoodwinking the taxpayer having for supporters some ten lawyers as interested satel lites who are milking the- community dry we believe that there is no intention on the part of the present council to make any attempt to correct or even mitigate such situation as lias born published for over a year in the public press without denial and supplemented with a new galaxy of misbehaviours we believe that the time has come when they must be brought to account to the highest tribunal in the land not only through our courts but to the tribunal of public opinion we believe toleration is a virtue to the breaking point but once the breaking point is broken as it has been broken moro toleration is cowardice evil and vice we believe it is the duty of all honest wellmeaning tax payers to rise in indignation and petition the municipal board for the replacement of the assessment commissioner goslin on many grounds amply exposed publicly and as enumerated in our petition on the grounds of political and administrative morality and discipline we believe his level of experience and horizon of ability has not endowed him with those necessary ingredients required of a worthy and competent assessor to be entrusted with s2sixxo00oi worth of responsibility we believe he has not shown any justification for his eternal presumption that he is empowered to implement certain parliamentarian enactments clearly defined by our legislature under royal assent only to he exclusively interpreted to suit his personal convenience and by so doing superimpose himself on the people under the cockandbull story that it is the act that is wrong while reeve scott who could well be said is reeve under false pretenses sets out to support him on the ground that the accumulated distress is not caused by the assessment commissioner but by a conservative enactment we believe that there have been gross persona motive and duplicity of interest in reeve scotts support of goslin and his cohorts of the court of revision we believe the council mentioned is continually extending its tentacles of influence in the various branches of township administration such its the planning board financing committees with understanding appointments specially selected behind j secret doors ahead of time we believe the scott council can never beat our organiza tion on the levels of honesty solid integrity and sense of honour but we also believe we can never beat that council because in their game of politics the dice are loaded and they will say anything and do anything to justify their apparent frauds on the public they will resort to reprehensible methods such as were inflicted on our organization at the last council meeting as follows and this is something that should come o the attention of he minister of municipal affairs as follows the scarborough and associated farmers remember that it is not even a pickering association to be heard here at our expense but should be heard in scarborough where they come from asked to cancel the court of revision until they had a galloping meeting supported by liberal timber at premier robarts office that organization was immediately put on the agenda to railroad it into a bylaw that by all appearances was out of order we suspected this trickery and promptly asked to be heard on the agenda they could not deny us to be heard but from the authoritative information in our possession scott promptly lent himself to decide the bylaw all by himself in secret our committee was ahead of time at the council chamber and there was no one there whereupon suddenly the todd scott scarborough group came in not to be heard openly according to the agenda but from scotts office only to hear what we had to say whereupon they left then after the municipal council passed the bylaw to suit the todd scott goslin convenience as though the council com posed of wank greening mowbray etc were just rubber stamps for scott it that was not a violation of municipal rule of practice what is as st gregory would put it the more they justify their crimes the more conspicuous thoy make them we believe every taxpayer should read our expose in next weeks stouffville tribune to justify our beliefs as above and attend a rally meeting at brougham town hall on february the 6lh at s pm where you will hear notable authorities on assessments together with ministers of the crown on matters of tremendous interest to all pickering township ratepayers rural urban and farmers alike come early to get a seat robert g roy stouffville ladies
