was once more on the agenda of whitchurch twp council monday this matter has been up for discussion many times over the last few years r preston leggett who pur chased a farm in that area sub mitted a petition signed by 26 residents and a letter requesting council take some action or they would appeal for action through the courts mr leggett stated the odor from the adjoining dump made life almost unbearable he sug gested that the sludge entering the ground might eventually de stroy the water supply council members expiessed surprise that the dumping had increased and it was thought four truck loads a day was the limit mr legett stated that the number was not less than eight a day on this information council agreed that the officials of the company should be contacted and a meeting arranged with a view to having the dumping in whitchurch discontinued explorers sunday school lesson golden text let us not love in word neither in tongue but in deed and in truth 1 john 3 18 the lesson as a whole while paul was the apostle of faith and peter the messenger of hope john was the apostle of love pauls ministry empha sized the church and peters the kingdom but johns letters are directed to gods family in keeping with this family emphasis john uses a beautiful term that distinguishes chris tianity and makes it unique it is the word fellowship this means a sharing together a com munion and indicates a common life just as natural children share the life and manifest the nature of their parents so do the children of god manifest the spiritual life and characteristics of their heavenly father and according to john the essential marks of this life are righteous ness and love the heart of the lesson in a world that has expressed its hatred for god in the utter repudiation of his son there is a unique fellowship of love this fellowship is composed of all those who have been recon ciled to god and who because of that reconciliation possess his very life and they have not only his life but they have also his holy spirit who is the power of that nature this fellowship is within a spiritual family because god their father is light they prac tice righteousness and hate in iquity because he is love they love both the god who has be gotten them and also all their spiritual brethren these two traits are illustrated in johns second and third epistles these two letters com plement each other in the form er we are warned against receiv ing deceivers while in the latter we are urged to receive and sup port fellow workers in the truth the second epistle commands us to keep the door of our homes closed the third encourages us to keep it open thus we are admonished to discriminate be tween foes and friends wolves and sheep the united chuich exploreis held their graduation on
