church on sunday evening november 19th 19c1 to share in the special service for the reconstitution of lemonville united church as a congregation of the united church of canada it was a truly joyous occasion marking a historic development in the history of lemonville the senice was conducted by reverend donald mclean of keswick united who is chair man of york presbytery rev gordon winch of st pauls oak ridges united church at lake wilcox read the lesson rev norman pick of trinity united church markham led in prayer the sermon was given by rev george davison of melville unit ed church in the course of his remarks mr davison sketched the his tory of the lemonville congre gation during recent years he challenged the congregation to an ever greater degree of co operation and to a more intense councillor lor uskidp township vote for a man whose time effort and judgment will be devoted to the interests of the people of the township sponsored by the ratepayers committee polling date november 27 1961 10 am 7 pm obedience and devotion to the work to which they have been called in lemonville may it never again be said the glory is departed from israel reverend ivan kennedy su pervising pastor of the lemon ville congregation conducted the reception of members twen tyfour were received into full membership in the reconstituted congregation mr edward mc- crea gave the report of the nominating committee and the trustees elders and stewards were duly elected greetings and congratulations were expressed to the lemon ville congregation by rev d davis of stouffville who traced his intimate and happy associa tion with the lemonville com munity during the past twenty years mr davis expressed tre mendous enthusiasm and great expectations as a result of the historic step that has now been taken in the reconstitution of this congregation he challenged lemonville church to raise up in their midst recruits for the fulltime service of the church the rural church has always been a fruitful source of re cruits for the ministry others to bring greetings and congratulations included mr jack winch of keswick former pastor of this congregation mr ross farquharson representing whitchurch township council mr lawson mumberson repre senting markham township and dr stuart crouch elder of stouffville united church and member of york presbytery mr evans treasurer of york presbytery acting on behalf of presbytery presented the books of record and the roll book to the congregation the service closed with the singing of blest be the tie that binds and the benediction was pronounced by the pastor of the lemonville congregation mr edward mccrea members and friends remained for an hour of happy fellowship together refreshments were provided by the womens asso ciation under the direction of the president mrs grant wells cedar grove news after last weeks welcome ihanleys clarkes and descend- rain the farmers are plowing hard long and fast it was prob ably a bit mr reesor was well shaken up and mrs reesor badly bruised with a sprained ankle they were car rying a heavy load and although they crowded the ditch there was a limit to how far they could safely get off the road to avoid a driver headed straight for them they were lucky not to have been more seriously in jured the driver of the other car was allegedly returning from a very late and somewhat liquid party the group of cedar grove photographers who under the direction of lloyd clendenen were featured at last months special interests meeting re peated their performance at stouffville last week for the an nual meeting of the horticul tural society the report of cedar grove mennonite church centennial was received a matter of houn late for last weeks paper but in lots of time for this weeks the program was planned from 10 am to 315 pm and includ ed both morning and afternoon services and a noon dinner at which about eighty were pres ent in a brief historical sketch prepared by paul
