and thousands cant afford or wont go to the dentist he said that these were the people for whom the health benefit could be the greatest he said that if only 10 cents worth out of a dollar would help them he was all for it mr ed neville asked dr roy if there had been any mass di- gration from the centres which had always had fluoridation or those which were now using it no reply was given no harmful effects proponents declare dr neil smith stated that a study of gingivitis or harm to the gums had been studied at the university of toronto this harm had been indicated by dr leslie in his remarks dr williams who had been associated in the survey on this point was in the audience and was allowed to reply he said that all checks had proved there was not more paradontel disease where fluoridation was used he said that the allegation to the contrary was distorted by those blocking fluoridation mrs brazier asked how many glasses a child would have to drink and dr pavnick replied that some children would take more than others it depended on the child and time of year w d atkinson asked if the same benefit couldnt be had with tablets dr guest said it could if in proper doses the trouble is there would be thou sands who wouldnt get them in many cases the parents just dont give a darn dr guest laid great stress on the findings of the morden re port which stated emphatically that there was no effect whatso ever on the different parts of the body as indicated by dr roy he related his experiences in debating the subject on the air with gordon sinclair he said the newscaster admitted that the fluoride had benefit but he didnt want it forced on him he is now working for a tooth paste company which has fluor ine in its product so we dont hear any more about it doctor guest concluded dr leslie in summing up his remarks at the close of the meet ing said that he too had re ports from which he could quote as well as dr guest he again pointed out that he hoped rate payers would vote according to how they saw the facts and he thought the experiments in the ontario cities where it was be ing tried should be continued gormley misses linda ellas and ann duncan and messrs
