nichols conduct ing the service pallbearers were his grand- son bert tienkamp and neigh bors anton berbruggen harold funnell martin wassink and bert neilson and kees von wyk of belleville who came to can ada with the tienkamp family in 1926 although egbert tienkamp will be remembered as a success ful farmer and market gardener and by some as the cauliflower king he began his lifes work as a railway employee in the province of drente where he was born when his eldest son william decided to leave the old country for a new life in canada the father agreed that the family should stay together and seek i their fortunes together so in 192s mr and mrs tienkamp and their family of seven three sons and four daughters ar rived to work on a farm at ring- wood ontario the two young est jan and anne attended school in ringwood after five years on this farm the family moved to kettleby where they specialized in grow ing cauliflower and cabbage for several years at the beginning of loblaws stores egbert tien kamp shipped all the cauliflower sold by this company he settled his sons on three well known farms the bogart clarkson and webster propr ties and when he retired he moved to the house on the bo gart farm where he died unex pectedly last thursday morn ing last year on his 80th birth day may 10 the family held a grand reunion to honor their jovial father and grandfather and later he sailed for his first return to holland he returned home to kettleby depressed about conditions in the old land hut happy that his family was so well established in canada he was predeceased by his wife the former geesfiena lueh- tenberg and is mourned by his sons william geert and jan of kolleby and by his daughters dientje mrs james preece hendrika mrs charles brand- er
