councillor stan watson gave a most comprehensive report on monday on the work that is going on to renovate and pre serve some of markham town ships pioneer cemeteries mem bers of the committee working on the project are mr watson chairman frank brumwell ri chard h neill and two mem bers of council deputyreeve dean and councillor watson there are eleven cemeteries requiring attention and they are as hagerman cemetery was cleaned up and the reesor plot was partially done he re ported that the brownsberger cemetery was in a most deplor able state and work on it was now in progress thornhill was now satisfactory and cashel men are about to start work in that area some assistance has been re ceived from local residents in some cases large stones had been displaced and new bases will be required in such cases the committee is trying to con tact relatives of the deceased mr watson estimated that it will take a couple of years to complete the work but he be lieves that the improvement al ready of bat one authority that never fans and that can lead men into th way of all truth j on sunday july 10 a wagg reunion was held on the spa cious lawns surrounding the home of mr and mrs v e wagg rr 2 stouffville be neath towering spruces and ma ples ninety children grand children and great grandchild ren of the late james and ra chel wagg gathered for a pic nic lunch it was an almost per fect day for the event and al most a perfect attendance was realized as only one family was unable to attend the day will be a memorable one no doubt for all who were there as it is to be the last such gathering on the farm which has been in the wagg name for 88 years james wagg and his young bride the former rachel staf ford bought the land shortly after their marriage in 1872 they raised eight children ma tilda mrs hilliard fockler died in 1936 cecil of stouff- viile who farmed until several years ago clinton a school teacher died in 1942 austin of toronto whose life work has been a mechanical engineer foster of stouffville is employ ed with a toronto firm mare- dia mrs bert snowball of markham vincent who carried on the work of the farm for his father and leo of stouffville who farmed with vincent for several years but now works in toronto around 1900 when it was the fashionable thing to have ones property named the farm was commonly known as cedar hedge farm the title was due of course to the cedar hedges which still stand extending on either side of the lane from the roadway to the house and barns two poplar trees one on each side of the gateway planted at the- turn mrs a doner nee phoebe moyer 84 years of age were the eldest persons present and a number of pictures were taken which appeared in various papers the 99 year old building is being re built at pioneer village and will add to the interests of this his torical park miss priscilla pipher and her sister mrs des rosier mrs florence miller and miss violet hoover called recently at the roy moyer home this old stone house carries sentimental asso ciations since it was built by their grandfather the late mr joseph pipher in 1861 the moyers have since moved and are presently sharing the home of mr and mrs of pheasants he said that the dept wished to try an experiment by holding 200 birds in each township and releasing them about ten days prior to the open season these birds would all be banded and the
