new homes catches rare florida fish mr milton forfar a former stouffville resident and now living at belle ewart 18 miles south of barrie holds a multi coloured trigger queen a rare fish that he pulled recent ly out of the waters of the gulf stream near miami beach florida mr forfar claims that to his knowledge only two other similar specimens have ever been caught he has had the fish mounted and framed the fish measured 18 inches in length the tail spines are six and one half inches long he caught it among rocks with a 120foot line it was some time before the fish was finally hauled safely into the boat mr forfar brought his prize catch in to the tribune on friday staff photo markham expects some conservation work markham township levy for metro conservation authority in 1959 light mi sbarkis reesor lifelong resident ofaltona district following a little over two months illness mrs barkis reesor passed away at the brierbush hospital on monday march lgth she was in her 83rd year and a lifelong resident of the altona district mrs reesor was born on the markham pickering townline and had lived on the home farm just east of altona for fiftynine years her husband barkis ree sor predeceased her twenty years ago deceased was identified with the united missionary church at altona where she had taught sunday school for many years mrs reesor established a rec ord of having missed the pick ering township sunday school convention only once in fifty years she was an ardent work er in the altona womens insti tute where she was a charter i member and was a keen his- torian deceased was a daughter of the late christian wideman i and hannah pugh i surviving are three sons blake ken and stanley also one daughter blanche mrs f lackey of fraserville there i are also three grandchildren i the funeral on wednesday i afternoon was conducted from the altona church by rev d sargent with interment in the i dicksons hill cemetery the pallbearers were ed wideman fred mcnair art wideman millard reesor percy wideman and walter carter a harding of markham charged with driving a truck through a red light on the 4th concession of markham was fined 30 and costs or six days when he appeared in traffic court at vandorf on tuesday officer hollidge stated that ac cused had driven through the red light with a truck load weighing 46000 pounds at an estimated speed of 45 miles ah hour police gave chase and laid the charge the accused pleaded not guilty harding admitted going through the light but said that it was amber when he ap proached he said that his brakes were hard meaning the air did not respond he said i he sounded his horn and drove on through officer robb said that as ac cused had driven for seven years he should have been fa miliar with the required dis tance in which to stop harding said he could stop in 20 feet j but officer robb replied that it would be nearer to 150 feet with the load he was carrying magistrate kelly in address- ing harding said of the forty acres of farm land on the south side of main st including the cain property and the a e booth farm at the regular meeting of the board on thursday evening metro planning board which has been most helpful in assist ing our local planners was ask ed to proceed with a complete plan of the agricultural land on the north side of main st and taking in all the remaining open land on both sides of stouffer street it is estimated that some three hundred homes could be accommodated on these two planned areas in the case of the cain pro perty ten lots near the high way have been reserved for commercial and commercial nonshopping stouffville planning board previously recommended that a percentage of industrial de velopment be provided along with the residential building i however it in this connec tion markham twp agrees to new bayview school barns badly damaged in weekend wind storm markham township council meeting on monday afternoon agreed by resolution to accept their share of a 160000 deben ture issue for a new 8room school to be built on an eleven- acre site known as the clark elgin property the approval was given subject to approval by vaughan twp of their share of baker rr 2 stouffville and arthur harold mitchell rr 1 stouff ville appeared before judge j pritchard last week baker and mitchell were char ged on february 20 of last year with assaulting warren beach of uxbridge twp with intent to steal on may 21 they were committed for trial before a judge and jury in november they reelected trial before a judge without a jury and march 12 was set as the date for their trial speaking to judge pritchard on thursday crown attorney alex c hall qc said that he had received communications from one of the defence counsel asking for an adjournment since he would be unable to attend court because of illness his honor then adjourned the trial until april 23 bail of 1000 was renewed baker is also charged with stealing eight head of cattle on june 6 of last sider who has been ill for an extended period passed away on friday march 13th in scarborough hospital he was in his 70th year and the eldest of the family deceased had lived at gorm ley he plied his gouinlock co to assist in marketing 170000 in 5 debentures of one to 20 years duratioa the bonds to be sold are for hydro and sewage projects this company has set aside a small amount of the total issue for local residents should one have an interest in these bonds they can be purchased from either of the two local banks or from bell gouinlock co local bonds have always sold well when they have
