Notes:
In 1916 the Oshawa Electric Company was purchased by the Province of Ontario and merged into the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario. It had previously been owned by the Seymour Power Company. The distribution system was bought back by the City of Oshawa in 1929, for the price of $310,000, due to a dramatic increase in demand. By 1930 the Public Utilities Commission had been created to deal with issues of the use of electricity in the community.
