Notes:
The first Boys' Brigade company was set-up in Scotland in 1883 by Sir William Smith as a method to encourage "Christian Manliness." It quickly spread in popularity, and units became present across the world. The vice president of Boys' Brigade was none other than Robert Baden Powell, whose enthusiasm for the concept gave rise to one of the most popular movements for young men, the Boy Scouts. Despite being seemingly overshadowed by the Scouts, the Boys' Brigade still exists in a number of countries.
