King Street Public School was built in 1913 on property that was originally purchased by the McLaughlin Carriage Co., and given to the School Board. Some students came from as far away as Bloor Street to attend the school, which was initially an eight-room building, with open plans for expansion to sixteen rooms. An exact closing date is not specified, but it was open until at least the 1970s.
