Notes
The McLaughlin Motor Car Company has its beginnings in the McLaughlin Carriage Company which was founded by Robert McLaughlin in Enniskillen in 1869 and moved to Oshawa in 1876. By the turn of the century, they had become the largest builder of horse drawn carriages in the British Commonwealth producing over 25,000 a year.

n 1907, R.S. McLaughlin, son of Robert, created the McLaughlin Motor Car Co. after visiting the United States and discovering that automobiles were becoming a modern luxury. It was after this tour that R.S. McLaughlin decided to use Buick engines and chassis with McLaughlin bodies to create the McLaughlin-Buick automobile.

The McLaughlin Motor Car Company was sold in 1918 to facilitate the formation of the Canadian operation of General Motors of Canada.
