Of wide interest was the wedding Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rochester, N.Y., of Jessie Mead, daughter of Mrs. Maben, of Rochester, and the late Mr. Herbert Carteighe Maben, D.S.O., M.C., to Alastair Armstrong Gibson Smith, son of Brigadier Armand Smith, C.B.E., M.C., E.D., and Mrs. Smith of Winona. The Rev. George L. Cadigan conducted the ceremony for which the altar and chancel were decorated with white chrysanthemums and gladioli and candelabra.

The bride was escorted into the church by her brother-in-law, Dr. Harold Clay Messenger of Dayton, Ohio, and was given in marriage by her mother. She was lovely in her gown of ivory satin brocade, fashioned with a fitted bodice, its marquisette yoke outlined with a lattice band of satin, and its full skirt, worn over a hoop, finishing in a court train. Her illusion veil of fingertip length, was held by orange blossoms and she carried a white orchid with fleurs d'amour and stephanotis. Mrs. Messenger of Dayton acted as her sister's matron of honour.

The other bridal attendants were Miss Patricia McCurdy, Rochester; Mrs. Llewellyn Smith, Winona: Miss Jane Thompson, Rochester. Each one were a gown of French blue taffeta having basque bodices and bouffant skirts, while their headdresses were bandeaux of matching material worn with short veils. Their bouquets were of garnet roses. The best man, Mr. Llewellyn Smith, brother of the groom; ushers, were Mr. David I. Ker, Dundas; Mr. Lincoln Magor, Port Nelson; Mr. Donald Edwards, Toronto; Mr. David Cockcroft, Rochester.

Immediately following the ceremony, a small reception for relations and immediate friends took place at the Country Club of Rochester, the bride's mother receiving in lava grey chiffon wool, trimmed with Etruscan braid. Her hat was of aqua velour and her corsage a white orchid. The mother of the groom had chosen a French model in moss green satin with pleated flounce skirt, a velour hat of matching green accented by diamante trim. Her corsage as a white orchid.

Following the honeymoon trip to Bermuda by air, the couple will reside in Winona.
