Widely known and very highly respected in St. Catharines and throughout the surrounding district, Charles Douglas Herald, beloved husband of Dora May Cole Herald, passed away Friday morning at the family residence, 39 Linden Street, St. Catharines, following an illness of some duration.

Born in St. Catharines, he had resided there all his life and for a number of years was manager of the Niagara Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association at Virgil, from which he retired in 1950, and it will be with sincere regret that a host of friends will learn of his passing as by his genial personality his friends were legion both in business and private life.

In religion he was a member of the United Church. He was also a veteran member of Empire Lodge No. 87, I.O.O.F. under whose auspices a memorial service was held on Sunday evening at the Funeral Home. He was keenly interested in all branches of sport, especially lacrosse, but his main interest in life was his home and family.

To mourn his demise he leaves besides his sorrowing widow, a son, Charles Arthur Herald. A sister, Mrs. Jessie Crosby of St. Catharines and two grandchildren also survive.
